when people ask, "how could God let this happen?" i have to wonder who they worship... God never promised us he'd make life easy. he just promised to be there for us when bad things happen. please disagree with me all you like, but i don't think God sent katrina to punish anyone. i think he sent rescue workers to help people. i think he enabled ( Read more... )

I have to wonder if you would feel the same if you had lost your home, your possesions, watched your family members die and had to leave them on the street, waded over other people's family member's dead bodies...I wonder if you had suffered because people who are supposed to help werent there....I wonder if you wouldn't then ask God how He would let something like this happen. I don't think God sent Katrina to punish anyone, but I dont think that it is bad that people question how he let it happen.

...i see what you're saying. maybe i wasn't clear. i do understand why victims would ask that. yes, everyone who is suffering and has lost loved ones is wondering why...

i should have clarified what i was reacting to-i've heard people around here saying that God sent Katrina because of the casinos, partying, etc. these attitudes are what frustrate me. the idea that God would send a hurricane on so many people just doesn't make sense to me.

but i do believe that God was there with the people who were suffering and dieing...and i believe that prayers are answered even if we don't understand why we get the answer we get. i believe that God is full of mercy and love.
