PS: Your class sounds retarded, and that first question doesn't even make any sense at all. You should take that to an English teacher at UC Berkeley and show them and then have them edit it to make it written properly. It still probably wouldn't make any sense.

I agree that the first question is written really poorly. The first sentence is like a fragmented run-on...Also, it seems that both questions state the professors opinion, and only give you the opportunity to agree with him.

It's more a directive than a question..."How do you see [whatever] in the same way that Kafka saw it?"

I agree about the stating the professor's opinion entirely � you expressed that quite well. Both questions are far too directive, and give too obvious of clues about how a student should answer them to be "correct", which is a poor way of asking something and which is frankly somewhat insulting to the student.

Beyond that, both questions represent extremely complicated ways of asking about relatively easy-to-understand concepts. But making common-sense ideas difficult to understand seems fairly commonplace at this school.
