Check out MalwareBytes, that helped me get my computer into a state where I could fix things up. Found stuff that no other program did (including Avira, Spybot, Adaware, etc.).
Actually though, Malwarebytes didn't solve that problem for me, eventhough I tried it. Ultimately the virus shut down Malwarebytes. The only thing that worked in the end was ComboFix. I since was infected again by one of these stupid rogue things and malwarebytes didn't clean it when I ran it. I've been quite disappointed in malwarebytes. i now have a copy of norton..but my computer is So darn slow now :((
Aw, sorry to hear that. Wasn't aware of ComboFix. Now that you mention it, the same thing happened to me with Malware. I had to do some nerd-acrobatics not worth recalling to get it to run, but it then cleaned up.
This is probably a horrid solution on my part, but I keep my hard drive partitioned so I can format my OS partition and reinstall windows on a whim. Actually, strike that, it's pretty smart. Fresh OS, and all my files are retained. Great for those times "Why the fuck is my computer doing this?"
I think I had what you had. My folder options did go missing, and I recall my google searchs getting redirected. Until you find a Final Solution, copy/paste link URLs into the address bar.
