And it seems that regardless of what we look for, we're constantly met with a slew of ads that explicitly state they are not looking for couples, be it a studio, 1br or a room for rent. Maybe if we were looking for a 2br and were made of money we wouldn't have this problem, but it seems to me that this is discrimination

We had similar problems looking for a place. Yes, they can discriminate against couples. Mostly they won't let you take a place they don't think two people can share (like a studio). Where are you looking?
