Well he swam over it and was making his way back over it when it must have had a bad acid trip or something because it freaked and lashed out it's tail which caught him straight in the heart. He pulled out the spike and tried to swim to the surface but died before he made it to the surface. It was shallow and the crews were around him filming. He's the 4th Australian to ever be killed by a stingray and the 17th in the world.

Really I find it amusing that he does all this dangerous stuff for a living and then dies by one of the most improbable events ever. Though it is kinda shocking to think this crazy son of a bitch could die of anything but old age.

How unfortunate he met a stingray that just happened to be crazy. Well, at least he went the way he probably wanted to go.
