have any of you seen the film into the wild? i watched it last night (finally) and it was so heartbreaking, and breathtakingly-beautiful. i can't get it out of my mind today.

I've seen the film and read part of the book in the SBS warehouse [long before the movie came out. I need to read that damn book. Good stuff.

I read the book a few years ago. Phenomenal.

In fact - when I was reading the novel, I was on my roadtrip down to Joshua Tree Nat'l Park. I put the book down during the week, and did some crazy exploring with friends, and came across a really bizarre area that appeared to be the remains of an old 'desert village'. So on my way back up to Seattle, I started reading again... and got to the part where Chris (Alex) visits the mysterious hippy commune in the deserts of Southern California... and FLIPPED OUT because I realized it HAD to be the SAME place we'd just happened across.

If you're ever in So. Cal, let me know - I'll direct you there as best I can.

And I just saw the movie myself, a few weeks ago, and loved it. Eddie Vedder did a superb job on the soundtrack.
