Hey Donald...

Dumb question. I know squat about bikes, and the I'm being persuaded to buy one. Clearly as a beginner I don't want to spend huge dollars, but I don't want something that is so crappy it makes me regret buying it... .any suggestions?

Well, you don't want to get some crappy $100 Canadian Tire special that's made entirely out of steel (heavy) and has crappy parts that'll start rattling after a few months.

Are you just looking for something to get around town, or are you looking to do a little cycling on trials and the like?

I have a hybrid (a Da Vinci St. Tropez). Hybrids, as the name implies, are about half-way between a mountain bike (which are bad on city streets) and a pure street bike (which can have trouble going over a curb). I really like the way it handles and rides.

You should be able to get a decent used bike or a last-year's model for a few hundred dollars, and you will get more enjoyment out of it. You might want to go into a few or the more prominent bike stores (Duke's, Curbside) and just see what they have.

Yeah, I see where they are coming from, but I can't say I agree with them. The main character is a women who has very serious issues and makes some very bad decisions, but I don't think that means the film-makers think women in general make bad decisions.

And complaining about the science in a horror film is like complaining about the science in Frankenstein, it's plausible enough in the world they've set up to carry the story along.
