There is a little story behind this post.

I had an order for a corset (I make corsets, kind of a hobby), where the customer had decided to be clever and measure themselves with the metric system because it seemed more exact. But then instead of saying their waist was 80cm, they were saying their waist was 80mm (~3").

I was snickering over this in a corset making group (someone said they wanted it for their Barbie, I said Ken because from the measurements I think the customer is a CD, and it was further degenerating), but we aren't allowed to go very far off subject in that community, and I had found this great non-news article that I had to post somewhere.

Why not here? It's entertainment (certainly not news). Heck, it's even gay.

Okay, you got my non-technical posts about corsets. I have another whine to write too, so good timing. Now to make it entertaining.

Do some more of that thing you do where you make posts about dolls.

If you mean making fun of publicity pieces that are pretending they are news, I'll see what comes my way. I loved pdanny's piece recently, where he made fun of the conservative stooge talk show.

I'm not sure how much of a future there really is for Barbie though. She is no longer at the forefront of doll style. In some ways the popularity of anime is to blame I think.

Witness the communities for more edgy doll collectors dollfies and the larger headed version BlytheDoll These women will send their dolls to stylists, who will sand the makeup away and apply new, re-dye hair, or replace hair completely, then there are always clothes.

The main changes me and my neighbor did to barbies was really her brother's propensity to put nipple holes in their breasts.

It did kind of humanize them a bit.
