I'm an idiot

Jun 23, 2011 00:12

I've been reading quite a few Batman fanfics recently (uh, yeah, they are mostly Batman/Joker) and I've come across a problem.

When reading most words, I only read far enough into the word that I can guess what it is in context of the sentence, and sometimes this means it only takes one letter. Such as with the word Batman. I see the capital B and ( Read more... )

That's actually pretty hilarious, I've never met anyone who reads like you. What happens if you try to read stuff out loud? Do you just say what your mind thinks the word is, or do you actually see the entire word before it comes out of your mouth? :o *is randomly curious*

I kind of learned to do it when I wanted to make myself read faster.

When I'm reading aloud, I try to be more careful, but yeah, sometimes that happens and I have to correct myself.

Hmm I might do that too, since I read super fast. Never really thought about it though, since I never mistake words for anything else. I think it's just because I've played piano for so long -- you learn to read and recognize things ahead of time and also very quickly, as well as guessing what comes next? idk that's my random hypothesis XD

I'm terrible at reading things out loud, not because I misinterpret a word, but because my speech gets all garbled. I seem to fail at talking, haha.

That's sort of what it is, subconsciously predicting what comes next and makes sense in context of the situation.

I often read too fast for my mouth to keep up, which makes me stumble over words. I have to consciously slow down my reading speed when I want to try and read aloud which makes it harder to do so.

That's....so adorable. I'm sorry it might be something you are frustrated with or not, but I can't help but smile at the image of you reading now... Ah, sorry also if I'm being rude...I don't mean it to be. I have never met someone that reads like that and find it very interesting...
Read: Highly adorable

Awww, thanks~

Actually, now that I've talked about it, I've found that it's much easier to realize when it's happening.

But back when it happened all the time, it would be weird, because the Joker would say something to Batman, including his name, and Batman would freak out and punch him in the face or something. And I would be like, what? what he said wasn't that bad. And then I'd reread it and be like, ohhhhh. XD

Mm, your welcome~

Ah, so it's easier to keep up with what's going on now...when you read?

I'm curious now...about that pairing Batman/Joker...never really thought about it before now...

Fell asleep at my computer... |Rubs the back of her neck|

Yeah.

lol I tend to always think about things like that. Though, really, it was the Nolanverse Batman movies that made me think about it.

Now THAT is adorable :3
