Leipzig Update WGT2009

This has been one of the best Treffens I've had. It's been a very energizing and regenerating trip. I met up with so many old old friends and of course made so many new ones. This is a 'meeting' after all. I have loads to say, but I'll save that for when I have some down time.

I love iLiKETRAiNS--I discovered them in a very unlikely way. At a place I used to belly dance at, there were also rock shows in the basement at the same time. We shared a business office as a dressing room with the sound guy (lucky him, huh?) whose job it was to monitor the shows via webcam and produce live recordings. One night, I was completely transfixed by the band on the monitor, so much so that I hurried through my dance set so I could rush back upstairs to catch the rest of their set. It was, of course, iLiKETRAiNS.

I never heard them until that night. I went to see the Cranes and they were right after. I can´t wait ´til I get home and buy the lp.

One of the great things about the WGT is that you are always discovering new music.

There were pretty good actually, but I made sure I was far enough away to not hear the vocals that well. Later, I saw the singer at the after-party totally shit-faced and stumbling. English to the core.

You may be right. I don´t really know my German metal very well.

Cranes. They were crap for the last few LPs. And for Crap I mean dull. So dull.

yeah, I sold "Poopulation 4" a week after I bought it and stopped listening to them. I went to see them more out of nostaligia, since it was 1998 when I last saw them. Usually the WGT brings out the best performances, even in old bands.

I hung out with Chis, Angelica (sp?) and Klaus the last night. They are so much fun. Angelica was complaining she wasn´t drunk so we all had long islands and then we were al drunk. Klaus went to his tent and brought back a liter of fruit wine for *each* of us. Then the fun began!

It was a great treffen.
