Strangely, I didn't lose anything in that month, and even made gains in the Chinese (side) splits.[1] I think it's from doing isometrics in the doorway every day (lay down put the sides of your ankles against the frame and push out for 60s). My student worker/friend talks a lot about the various training he's done (he mentioned karate, Thai kickboxing, and jiu jitsu), also never mastering any, but continuously moving around different styles. I'd say that's pretty dang well-rounded, if you ask me. I'm currently just taking Tae Kwon Do, since absinthea signed up Jhonen for it. I've taken an Americanized hybrid of it before, so I have a bit of experience with it, but since this is true Korean Tae Kwon Do, I never realized how beautiful of a martial art it truly is. Sadly, it's 80% kicking, 20% punching, hardly any ground moves. Point sparring too. I can learn some practical skills, but nothing really applied. And if there's one thing I learned from your posts, it's that most fights end up on the ground ( ... )
