OMG, I am so happy with my new
Blendtec Total Blender. It's so fucking awesome!
I've always wanted a high quality blender. This one just blows my mind.
It blends a lot of more edible things. I was sold on the rake handle since it's kinda like a celery root. I love that he says "Now, Don't Breathe This!" when toxic dust comes out of the Blender.
I was thinking of making my own "Will It Blend" video with 1 kilo of Marijuana.
J/K DEA! :)
Anyway,
The 1st thing I did was see if it would grind grains into flour and mixed 1/2 cup whole groats + 1/2 flax seed. In less than a minute, I had two cups of bread quality flour. I usually have to grind 40g/20g oats/flax to make my post kung fu smoothies, but now I can grind a week's worth in a minute.
Then I wanted to see if I could make almond butter and put 2 cups whole roasted almonds ($5.00/lb) + 1 tbsp Flax seed oil. I followed the directions for peanut butter,
Lo&Behold perfect almond butter with a 1:2.5 Omega-3:Omega-6 ratio. Now, I can make one of the most heart healthy nut butters on the planet. I have a stash of essential oils, orange, clove, ginger, cinnamon, nutmeg, etc.... Nut butters are the perfect media to experiment with various extract & flavors.
I then made whole veggie juice by dumping in 1 whole carrot, a whole beet, whole cauliflower, tomato, red cabbage, and broccoli in with 1 cup of orange juice and sure enough, it made a whole juice out of the whole damn thing. I had to start the cycle a 2nd time for the beet, but I think it's 'cuse I packed the hard veggies on top and they got stuck in the top of the jar.
Ok, so it didn't taste so good, but I'll get better at it. It's easy enough to drink.
Finally, I had some the seeds and guts from my spaghetti squash pudding. I just dumped the whole squash seeds + guts, added salt and 1 cup of water and it made soup! micronized the seeds shells & all. Ok, again, it wasn't that tasty, but I was more interested in seeing what the blender could do. I'll come up with better ideas.
This blender will give me a huge Return on Investment in terms of time and money, from buying whole grains, seeds, nuts, and making my own whole grain flours and nut butters. Plus, I will always be able to take ugly looking, but still good veggies and make creamy soups out of them. The possibilities are endless!
Sure the blender was pricey, but as I always say about things that are an investment to your health. "It's cheaper than doctor bills.
Now, I am going to sit back and drink a nice bottle of "
Educated Guess red wine" and pat myself on the back for a smart purchase. C'mon, I had to buy the wine, look at that label!
