Yayy for visiting! labeth's cat is as adorable as described, and the condo is indeed shiny. It has one of those cool magic fireplaces.

We have thus far gotten through the *entire* miniseries of BSG, plus the first five episodes. (Geek Summit Power: we know how to hypermarathon.) This reminded me of a book I've been reading recently, Doubt: A History, ( Read more... )

I'm not too knowledgeable about ancient religion, but I think both Hera and Isis were seen as mother-godesses to a certain extent? Isn't the cybrid baby supposed to give birth to a new race or something? (Which I think actually fits more with Isis... I found it strange they named the baby Isis, but that's probably because when I think Isis I think "sewed together the dismembered pieces of her dead brother and sexed him". Egyptian religion is weird.)

Yep, they were definitely both with the motherly thing, with Hera as the really angry one and Isis somewhat more sympathetic (...I think?). This stuff is more about how Egyptian religion was absorbed and changed by the Greeks post-Alexander, which seemed like the closest thing to the Colonials' situation. It's entirely possible I'm overthinking this, of course. *g*

(Also, hee, that is a beautiful icon.)
