Whats worse I think is how people think the answer is just to throw more money at the problem. Instead of removing the influence of the federal government and revamping the entire school system in the state.
Gah I swear when the whole system collapses one day I will just laugh and watch the whole thing burn while screaming we got what we deserved.
We definitely need more money in education, but we also need less political mismanagement of the funds.
A lot of the money never makes it to the students (nor to the teachers' salaries) because it is wasted on trivialities that have no function except accomodation of every pedagogically-ignorant parent who knows how to yell. If parents treated their children's pediatricians the way they treat their children's teachers, we would have a lot of dead children. " No, the fact that you are a parent does NOT automatically qualify you to know how best to teach your child, and no, the fact that you are parent does NOT automatically qualify you to know what subjects are worth the knowing, and no, the fact that you pay taxes does NOT automatically qualify you to know how best it might be spent in a public school! " -- Good Lord, I wish we could say that out loud to the damned public!

This is what happens when the state bureaucracy takes over education by trivializing it to standard testing.
