Good thing it was a three-day weekend

It meant I had three days to watch the three new episodes of Sherlock.

Well goddamn. That is a good show. Kind of devoured both series within a week. Apparently I had really good timing to get sucked in since the Series 2 finale aired yesterday. Also, glad to have watched it all very nearly in a vacuum. I've heard nothing about it in the media. I didn't look too much into the fandom, wanting to enjoy it on my own first without all sorts of opinions coloring what I watched.

So what are my opinions? Great show. Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman are fantastic. I hope both those guys get the BAFTA for The Reichenbach Fall. Sherlock finds his humanity, John is heartbreaking. Also, great witty banter in that episode. And yes, I maybe got a little teary there at the grave. Although, curses, the one thing I was accidentally spoiled about was that there would be a third series and so I knew Sherlock would be faking his death. Didn't matter though, really. Still got sad for poor John.

I absolutely love the modern twist to the classic stories and characters. I love the visuals and how they show text messages or Sherlock thinking. Loved the running gag with the hat.

Loved the ending to A Scandal in Belgravia. I believed it every time Irene Adler was dead. I loved when Sherlock would suddenly speak 1000 times faster because of her.

I had to keep catching myself wanting Watson to be the big damn hero and remind myself the show is called: "Sherlock" heh. I blame A Study in Pink for that for when John came running to the rescue... Apparently I am a Watson fan. :D

I know the show wasn't perfect (choosing to ignore the fanwank), but it was thoroughly entertaining, and hopefully they don't make us wait 18 months for series 3!
