Help!

Apr 01, 2009 19:49

I started looking for post-summer jobs today and found the experience...difficult. Any tips for how to find a job in a city you don't know very well? I'm no that picky, but I don't have much work experience and probably need something where you need a college degree but not a specific one. All help would be appreciated!

well, i can tell you that it's going to take more than a day - especially in this fucking economy. i've been looking pretty consistently since around january, and it's been hard. i think that's just how it's going to be - really, really hard. depending on the kind of job you want, there are different sites you can search on. for example, i've been trolling www.idealist.org and looking at government jobs. if you go to cal's career website, they have some collections of databases, etc.: http://career.berkeley.edu/Infolab/CareerFields.stm.

hope that's helpful? this is something i've been wrestling with for a while now, so if you have any questions, feel free to hit me up on facebook/AIM/whatever.
