Spain, Co-operation adn Annawyn's death..

Well I have been a bit rubbish at updating so I thought I should do a bit of an update:

I last updated properly just before heading off to Spain.

I managed 5 days in Spain visiting my parents. It was nice to get some time to relax. I met their new dog and spent a fair bit of time around the new swimming pool. It was nice to have a bit of a rest. But sadly it was over too quickly.

Work has bee nuts since I got back. My mid seat review was positive. I’ve decided I want to specialise in contentious work (Court work, negotiating, dispute resolution) and I am getting a lot more responsibility and running my own cases at court now. It’s busy but I’m enjoying it.

The Gent’s Soc had their first player event, Co-operation. I was incredibly nervous about doing talks and running dancing but absolutely everyone at the event, the organisers and players all put so much effort in that it was a really brilliant weekend. From Friday night through to Sunday afternoon everyone helped out and got involved. The enthusiasm and effort from all there meant it really was a fantastic experience and I really can’t wait to do it again. We managed to nearly cause death by cake as so much had been brought. People’s entries to the cake and jam competition were absolutely brilliant. The standard of the entertainment competition was one of the highest I have ever seen at a larp event (though I think the chicken dance may haunt me for some years). The talks and debates were wonderful. Adele learnt an awful lot over the course of a day. Difficult questions were asked and I actually had an opportunity to really develop Adele further. She’s even been inspired to write a book. I wont list everyone who made it such as special event because I think I may as I think I’d probably be listing absolutely everyone there. I’m panicking slightly about having stuff ready in time for the main event but I can’t wait to see everyone again!

Then after a few days off work I rushed off to GEF. Wednesday night was spent in the pub near site discussing and planning and I spent most of Thursday and Friday sitting on the Gate. I quite enjoyed seeing everyone as they arrived and having a chance to say hello so I’ve said I’ll be down there again at the moots.

IC I had a nuts weekend. There was a he amount of politics to deal with. Annawyn was in here element and managed to place the Wolves in a great political position of nearly everyone working on a friendship with them. Things were moving forwards. Then on Saturday night at Kara’s wake Odin let the cat out of the bag with Annawyn and Sunday morning saw Annawyn cornering Gwion and Treacle to ask where Fae babies come from, what the truth of her race was and who on earth she was. After a huge information download my head was spinning. But it was really interesting and was about to drag her off in a whole new direction. The afternoon was mainly spent screaming at Tron and being delivered dead demons. The weather got worse and we took down the less stable tents and sat in the bell tents for the evening. The Ruathar tent in spite of the weather was an absolute joy that night from Abs telling his very moving life story, to debates about honour between assassins and many very silly moments. We even managed the 5 to 2 game in the very small space.

Monday was really the finest moment I had playing Annawyn. The unicorns charged the Wolves, Trannies and Vipers leaving the field after the Jugger final. We managed to stop the fight and then Annawyn directed Absolom around the factions to persuade each to leave the field. The right word here, the correct nudge there. Most of them didn’t want a fight and the Wolves were in the perfect position to stop it. So on the final day of the first GEF the greatest barbarian horde of Erdreja stood in the middle of a battlefield and called for peace and everyone left without a war being started. Wow. It wasn’t all Annawyn of course but it’s something she had been working towards for years. Showing people there were better ways of doing things than just hitting each other. And in this case diplomacy saved lives. She had also got very philosophical and was dealing very well with the proof of Fleetfoots murderers and telling people to be patient with Tron and leave him be despite how annoying he was. She seemed to be in perfect balance for one and things were washing over her.

That afternoon she arranged wit Gwion to move to Norhault to learn more about the ancestors, her people, where she came from and who she was. For game mechanics of this I got delayed at the bards with Asbo filling out research requests for it all. Anyway I was die to meet Gwion at half four so we just had time to pop up to camp, grab some things and rush back to meet him. In the pouring rain Annawyn and Asbo left the bards guild and headed through the market place and towards the Wolves. They never got there. Annawyn was fae baned to death and dedicated and Asbo is missing presumed dead. I wont say what actually happened cause it’s a find out in play situation and people are running off in all sorts of directions. But it was a very good ending.

Annawyn died 3 times all told. The first was on a linear to deliver a message on behalf of Odin. She came back with a vision she would bleed to death alone and bleeding. Well that was fairly accurate. The second time she pretty much died and whatnot in a ritual where they broke her pattern and fixed it (Bringer of String for those who were there). After that she made a pact with Danu that the third time would be for good and she didn’t want to come back to serve any more. She had earned a rest. So once her purpose was done she was done. Annawyn’s first love died to fae bane and so she felt he could not return and was waiting with Danu for her. So she always told people she would go for good and not come back. And she was baned to death and finally laid to rest to be with Danu. So she wont be back and she is where she was promised to be. And you could take the managing to get the entire Heartlands to leave a battlefield peacefully her final purpose. So I’m chuffed to bits how it actually came together. It really was a good time to go. Of course not I may never know who she was but she may not have liked to know anyway. And it’s going to be interesting to see how people deal with her death. Her funeral is being sorted and from the bits so far really brings a tear to the eye. And some people have added some lovely touches to it so she wont be totally forgotten.

I’m not fully decided on what to do next but people’s reactions to her death IC and OOC have been amazing. I really hadn’t realised how much people liked her. She is going to be a hard act to follow but I shall see what I can come up with…:)
