I've found a boardgames club here in Beijing, all chinese people, so I'm off to give it a go. I'm hoping that playing euro games will transcend language, and I can make some new friends!
Over 30 people around 6 - 8 tables / lounges in a nice cafe, it was like a boardgames convention that happens every week. A good selection of games to play, including quite a few that I'd seen but never had a chance to play (eg. Attika, Colosseum, Villa Palletti, etc). I was introduce to Blokus (a bit like multiplayer Tetris), and "I'm the Boss". Rather proud that I could understand the instructions described in chinese, and manage to play the game (which involves lots of fun negotiating and deal-making). Plus the whole event was £1 which included coffee and ice cream.
