To expound upon last night's post:

My 11:30 got out early at noon, so I went for lunch and got in just about my only work for the day. Went back for a 1:30 class, got out 2:20 and spent the next hour selling tickets for Dancer's Symposium. Outside. In the cold. I don't think it was 20 degrees outside. Couldn't feel my hands, face, or feet. Went back to the dorm, got some hot chocolate, pretended to do work for half an hour before submitting to the siren call of the nap. Woke up, pretended to do more work, then hauled ass to dress rehersal. I got to watch most of the show and it's going to be amazing. I don't think many CMU people read this, but those of you who do had BETTER come. Or I will have your heads. Don't think I won't.

Dress rehersal took three hours and I did no work in that time, even though I'm only in two routines. Spent just about the whole time watching everyone else because it's just that good. Holy fuck, the stomp routine is incredible. It's like people singing a capella, only more intense because I think it's easier to be in synch when you're singing. The stomp clap is just woah. I did well on my tap, but fucked up the jazz. Here's to hoping I do a better job tonight/tomorrow.

And while we were in dress rehersal ... it dumped snow. At least three inches on the ground as I was walking back to Morewood. I couldn't tell what was the pavement and what was the grass. Basically I just dropped my shit off, borrowed my roomie's windbreaker because it's more waterproof than anything I own (I'm prepared for cold, but not snow. At least I've got the good boots), and headed back out into it. By this point it's nearing 11.

Didn't get back in until at least 12:30. First went to the hill by the tennis courts and attempted to learn to snowboard, but that snow was already fucked by people sledding. Didn't actually get around to sledding. I made my first snow angel and helped Marc bombard random people with snow balls. I took one to the face from about, oh, three feet away but whatever. It was amazing fun, chucking snow balls and seeing just how horrible my aim was.

We headed to Schenley Park and Flagstaff Hill after that, but ran into a group of first-year archis on the way there. That was an intense snowball fight, and fucking Spencer had some sort of tray he used to shovel snow everywhere. Can't count the number of times I got knocked down or pelted in the face or whatever, but, god, I love archis. The first exchange with the group?

"So what's your name?"
"Victoria?"
"Ah, okay. HEY GUYS, THIS IS VICTORIA! WE KNOW HER NOW! GET HER!"

I love those guys. That was without a doubt the most fun I've had all semester.

Marc and I continued on to Flagstaff where there were actually quite a few people. Ran into DJ and we probably spent another, oh, hour taking turns boarding down the hill. There weren't any bindings on the board, this was just pure urban, amateur snowboarding (amateur on my part, at least) but it was hella fun. Fianlly, finally, finally headed back to Morewood. Passed a bunch of kids trying to build a snow giant (would have been easily twice my height, had they managed to get it upright) and (speaking of upright) kids building a 7 foot tall snow penis. In the middle of the Cut. Which is in the middle of campus. I think it's gone by now, but it was fairly amusing to see. Oh, Carnegie Mellon. Got back to the dorm and I spent at least twenty minutes in the hottest shower possible but I think I'm only now getting back full feeling in my fingers. Needless to say, I didn't start my homework until, oh, past 1 am. At which point I ordered a pizza.

So tonight's my first performance in almost two years. I just went and picked up a delivery--my parents had flowers sent. It's sweet of them to do so, but I don't think I'll be telling them when future performances are. I'll keep these for now, see how long they last. I'm notoriously bad with flowers.
