Shut up (right click, open)

One of the first things spoken about in Fahrenheit 9/11 was how when the presidential election was held in year 2000, everyone thought Al Gore had won Florida- that is, until Fox News started reporting that Bush had won. We later found out that George W. Bush's cousin is one of the major heads behind Fox News. ( Read more... )

Ok, I usually don't butt in to what you write on here, but this one I couldn't resist. Last time I checked, FOX News does not decide who becomes President of the United States. Now, given the fact this inward corruption of the FOX Broadcasting System is even true, it did NOTHING to decide/change who became President in 2000. Rather, it was the electoral college (you know, the way it's been in this country for a long time) that decided. Ahh....too much.

“With information provided from the Voter News Service, NBC was the first network to project Gore the winner in Florida at 7:48 PM. At 7:50 PM, CNN and CBS project Gore the winner in Florida as well. By 8:02 PM, all five networks and the Associated Press had called Gore the winner in Florida. Even the VNS called Gore the winner at 7:52 PM. At 2:16 am, FOX calls Florida for Bush, NBC follows at 2:16 am. ABC is the last network to call Florida for Bush, at 2:20 am, while AP and VNS never call Florida for Bush."

As well as...

“John Ellis, a first cousin of George W. Bush, ran the network's ‘decision desk’ during the 2000 election, and Fox was the first to name Bush the winner. Earlier, Ellis had made six phone calls to Cousin Bush during the vote-counting.”
-William O’Rourke, “Talk Radio Key to GOP Victory,” Chicago Sun-Times, December 3, 2002.

Oh, and...

"A Fox News consultant, John Ellis, who made judgments about presidential ‘calls’ on Election Night admits he was in touch with George W. Bush and ( ... )

Again, you are implying that it was FOX News that called the 2000 election. Even if Fox swayed the other broadcasting stations into believing that Bush had won Florida, it still did nothing to change who had won Florida, Bush or Gore. The media has no effect on who becomes President, which is why I don't understand what you're arguing about. Second of all, you speak of Katherine Harris, but if you had done your homework as you claim, you would know that it was the Democrats who counted the votes in Florida, becuase they were the ones in charge in that sector of the country for tallying the votes. So blame them, if anyone, for Gore's loss of Florida. Furthermore, I would appreciate a MATURE response from you in the future when we speak of things such as politics, instead of calling me pottymouth names, which really does nothing for your argument at all. Thank you.

HOW (insert over-used, obligatory word here)! thefullsit August 1 2004, 09:31:43 UTC
You're absolutely right. You have the freedom to be anonymous if you choose. But I also have the freedom to make you look like a moron. After all, I am a typical liberal. And a "typical liberal" according to dictionary.com states that I am:

1. Not limited to or by established, traditional, orthodox, or authoritarian attitudes, views, or dogmas; free from bigotry.

And my favorite...

2. Favoring proposals for reform, open to new ideas for progress, and tolerant of the ideas and behavior of others; broad-minded.

I, of course, totally agree with what you saying. John Kerry is going to win, so I think this anonymous ass fuck is being anonymous simply because he/she is going to be bitch slapped in November. :) Smile!

P.S. I think it's amusing that one minute after the 'how typical' comment was made, another anonymous comment was posted saying "you're ugly." I'm sorry, but being liberal, at least we can make insulting shots worth substance. It is even more amusing (if possible) that this person said "how immature." PLEASE, BITCH!

By the way, you're gorgeous Alicia! Have a good day! :)

Oh Tommy... you are very right. I saw this phrase on a button the other day: 11/02/04 -the end of an error.

As for me, I'm working on getting around to all these comments. I was thinking about making my entries so that anonymous people couldn't comment, but I think it's quite fun. Don't you?
