And check this out, I read an article about the Jonas Brothers having Purity Rings which, according to the article, sparked 3.1 million teens to "purchase" purity rings and practice ...abstinence or celibacy or whatever.

I completely agree, they are a bunch of bullshit. If you're going to be celibate in faith, why materialize it? I'm pretty sure it says in the Bible that if one is going to do something for god (the verse talks specifically about fasting) that it should be done without others knowing (such as putting on makeup to cover so no one knows you are fasting) and not let your intentions be known so that it is truly a pact with God. This is the same concept so essentially, 3.1 million Christians are taking 1 step forward and 10 steps back.
