I let Jake do all the talking as I looked around. I could hear him drilling the parents for info in that way he had of looking completely and utterly concerned while being about as stubborn as a terrier who's scented a rat. I didn't have the patience or the disposition for it, which was why I thanked whoever was listening for sending Jake my way for the umpteenth time. With any luck, I'd never have to interrogate client again ( ... )

Michele huffed in a hasty attempt to calm down. It didn't work. "Then. Then how long has this been-?"

A sigh. The doctor shook his head and pushed his glasses back up the bridge of his nose. "I'm not sure telling you would help any, sir. The fact is, your boy needs to go to the hospital for treatment. Your dated home remedies won't do much good at this point ( ... )
