I popped over to read PvP. The artist, Scott Kurtz, decided to write about his desire for a new cell phone. The question, "What was pre-industrial revolution man obsessed with?" got me to thinking ( Read more... )

Well, all very true - but I think you forgot one biggie - wealth. And I think the most dangerous one is religion.

As for cell phones, don't need one, don't want one, and they are working on research right now to prove they are downright dangerous. I know three people who have died of brain tumors recently. (but I also had a grandpa who had skin cancer, so I don't tan - I'm an overcausious twit)

The wierd thing is, why do humans lust to the degree they do? why are there religious fanatics? Why do girls starve themselves to death for beauty? Why do baseball players sign contracts for 25 million? Humans are bizarre, aren't they?

We're all really fucking weird. :P And yes, I did overlook wealth. My bad. But in my defense, I did write this before 8 am.

Before 8 am - that's impressive. My brain doesn't usually turn on until noon.

It's a gift, I suppose. I can write very quickly, so long as I enjoy the topic.

As an aside, I read the comment that so wonderfully inspired you, my love, and it raised a question in my mind, too, by way of this quote: "Have you seen the Motorola Razr V3 phone? Holy crap I have to have one of these. I'm like obsessed with it. I saw one in action in Seattle and it's all I can think about."

I've seen phones "in action" before. You hold them up to the side of your head, or maybe put on headphones. Or, if it's a speaker phone, it just sits there making noise, and you can talk at it if you want (much like some of my classmates this semester). What makes a skinny phone's performance "in action" like this more impressive than a larger one?
