I'm waging a war of attrition on my mom's husband. He now sleeps here a few days a week, and she sleeps at his place a few days a week. When he is here, he spends hours and hours on the computer in the dining room, doing who knows what, until the wee hours of the morning. Holidays are always so weird for people, I'm sure much more so for you. Maybe this isn't the advice you need to meliorate the situation, but I think you have the right to feel territorial. Home just isn't home anymore.

Maybe you should just go out on a limb for that boy. If he's shy and reserved, chances are he's not going to be forward. In fact, as a shy boy myself, I'd say he would appreciate a girl pursuing him. Maybe you should just give it a bit more time to ensure the feeling is mutual.

I sympathize with your preparations for next semester.
