The excitement of spending a year in Ecuador is incredible, but so is the terror. A whirlwind of financial aid, picking courses, practicing Spanish, and filling out forms is nerve-wracking enough, but then to actually go? And live with a strange family? Day 1: Wash and blowdry hair, straighten bangs.
Day 2: Do nothing; hair still looks excellent.
Day 3: Pin back hair into half-pony or poof.
Day 4: Tease out hair to make massive puffball.
Day 5: Ponytail.
Day 6: Wash hair. 

Usually white Christian music is absolutely unbearable, but Sufjan-produced pastor-and-wife duo The Welcome Wagon is so good it makes me want to start going to church again.

Spring break is never as exciting as teen movies make it out to be.

The boys I like tend to have: dark features, good taste in music, and absolutely no interest in me.

All I want is to be able to smoke the occasional cigarette in my dorm room.
