Sometimes I feel really bad for eating meat again after being a vegetarian for sooo many years, and so I'll stop eating meat for a few days, but then the next thing I know I'll order a salad and forget that it even has chicken in it, and halfway through the meal I'll look down and think "oh, wow... Friday's doesn't serve tofu..." and it won't really bother me. Part of me thinks its the natural order of things, that in life's cycle animals eat other animals, and in our purest most basic form as a being, we are mere animals and are a part of that cycle. But then part of me realizes that sitting our asses in a McDonalds and ordering a quarter pounder just somehow isn't the same as a lion hiding in the grass and pouncing on an antelope. I think the seperation of the entire process of killing the animal to having it there cooked in front of you, or hacked into pieces and wrapped in plastic on a foam board kind of shields people from the fact that they are eating an animal. I mean, when I bite into a piece of steak, I never think "man thats

so i don't have anything too insightful to type about vegetarianism, except that if my sister (a vegetarian) would cook for me every day i could definitely be a vegetarian. when the dining hall feeds me, it's much harder and i feel malnourished when i don't eat meat there. i think i would like to have the experience of killing and eating an animal to see if i could do it. if i could, then i'm okay. if not, no more meat. but then there's the meat industry. it's a tricky cycle. so i try not to eat a lot of meat (especially super processed meat... like McDonald's, etc) but sometimes the craving overcomes me. and too much soy scares me. which is another issue. i have a book that talks about it. and it scared me. there's lots of estrogen in soy and it's not good for women (especially pregnant women) to eat a lot of it. so i'm really just confused

thank you loves for your thoughts about animals and eating and nature, and sarahfannin, for nutella thoughts. i don't really have any new nutella recipes except that it tastes about a million times as good as usual when you are in ghana and you haven't eaten nutella in several months.
