Um, hope this is helpful. That's pretty much correct except I think now a second definition is a big ole' rigamarole in fandom about something. Of course the second one could be just 'wank' but fan_wank and http://www.journalfen.net/community/fandom_wank/ exists so...

Oh, good. I thought I was losing my mind. I started seeing folks use fanwank in that way, and in my mind I thought, "But I thought fanwank was filling plotholes . . ." Glad to be reminded that it's TwoP where I picked that up.

Yep. Originated by Craig Hinton (sadly now deceased) in Doctor Who fandom.
