do everything you know how to do, but do it in SAFE MODE.

know how to get into safe mode? restart your PC, and as soon as it beeps from the very first system test (while the screen is still black or filled with some idiotic manufacturer's logo, but not after the Windows logo appears), hit the F8 key over and over. eventually, a menu will appear which allows you to choose Safe Mode. going into safe mode, and then running all your antispyware and antivirus applications -- yep, that usually works best

by the way, I found you while browsing the following pg:

Thanks for the reminder about Safe Mode. I have improved things a bit, but still have others to sort out.

I have never heard of chumby.net. I wonder how I got there?

Thanks, J. Have done this. I was able to eradicate many buggies and doodahs. Hasn't solved everything, but definitely improved things.

Thanks Abby. I tried this. It scared me a bit, but it has definitely made a different. Instead of a flashing advert in scary red and black, I now have a putty coloured blank. So, still got some way to go, but I feel I've done some good.
