Is mailing (like USPS postal mail) the cheapest/most-efficient way to go? I assumed some sort of non-UPS/Fedex/DHL/USPS shipping company would be the sort of thing used to move someone's belongings like that.

Well, I have been told by several people that UPS is the cheapest place to go. I need to see if there is a UPS store around.

Strange, because common wisdom has (at least in the past) been that UPS is usually, at least by a little bit, the more expensive place to go.

And I'm sure you don't necesarilly need to go to a UPS store to ship UPS, although it'd pry be easier there if you need boxes and stuff. (people did ship UPS before UPS stores existed) I'm sure you can just call UPS in your phone book and have one of the men in the brown uniform come pick your stuff up. ...just mentioning in case you wanted to eliminate the middle-man.
