So as you may or may not have noticed, I have been incognito from Livejournal for awhile. I didn't write for awhile and then I felt bad about not writing for awhile and then I subsequently wrote less. I've been a bit down since I got to Cairo and I don't write too much when I'm blue. But my recent trip stateside brought me back to life and made me ( Read more... )

your return pleases me, drab feline.

xequalsfun and i talked about your last.fm-related concerns last night, and i think we both agree that 1) plenty of perfectly normal people obsess over new songs/albums they like, and 2) 13 times in a row is not normal. that said, though, i will now publicly demonstrate my trust in you -- and, apparently, every single person who reads your lj -- by admitting that i once listened to Mariah Carey's "Hero" on repeat for more than an hour when i was in high school. i've come a long, long way.

what was it about cairo that had you feeling bleh? was it separation anxiety? culture shock? should i not even be asking? i don't want to resurrect ghosts.

Oh now, we all have darker ghosts than Mariah Carey (read: Vanilla Ice). I was bleh in Cairo for a number of reasons, including being totally mentally unprepared to be abroad for this long, missing my girlfriend, family, friends, Philly, etc. It was like a perfect storm. But it's cool, I was home for awhile, and now I'm back, and then I'll be home again next month for a while, and then back. It sort of defeated my original idea of just being here for a year, but I quickly realized that was just not going to happen.

Dude, I feel the same way. I'm not too sure about Dallas, either. Look at what happened to Kennedy.

Well the airport approach in Salt Lake...all I can say is SCARY. It looks pretty out there though I'd actually like to visit. The bigger horror was being forced to watch Nancy Drew on the flight from Salt Lake to Philly. *Shudder*.
