Name me one of my characters, and I'll tell you the inspiration(s) behind their initial conception, whether they be real-life people or fictional characters. Present, future & past are all fair game!
I haven't done a meme in ages, feels like. I also don't feel like listing out my characters, but you can find a list of my usernames
here and go off

Then I realized that was stupid and his character was woefully uninteresting, so I gave him an actual personality (calculating dickbag) and an origin that drove conflict, making his mother a D'Naban so that he was mixed race. That gave him something to have to prove himself against, because courtiers were like "um excuse you King Ramsthus we cannot have a BROWN PERSON take the throne when you die."
So the inspiration was "bastard son made legitimate heir" and from there I worked out the character concept that seemed most interesting to me.

So I sat down and went "I really enjoy playing trolls. I'm going to app the goddess of /b/. She will have to be a goddess because tits or GTFO and she will exist only on the internet because all her icons are shops, I can tell from the pixels." The username was rule34'd because, obviously, what else are you gonna call the goddess of /b/?

Originally I went "I want to play a trans char." Then I flipped a coin to decide FtM or MtF and came up MtF, and I chose Marlene as her name because of Suzanne Vega's song, "Marlene on the Wall." It actually sort of arose out of my own recent gender issues and it was my way of working through them.
Later incarnations were attempts to capture different aspects of her character but the only one I feel really worked well was Second Heaven's version, where she was largely post-transition and just had this ~*secret*~ looming behind her while being a really big girly-girl.

Originally I just wanted to take up a Guardian slot because they sounded interesting, and I thought playing a militant feminist lesbian in a matriarchy sounded like a fun time. Her character developed into being a vulgar, acts angry all the time but is really the chillest person, sort of character.
AmeliaAmelia is based on a character from my novel, Angel's Creed! The main heroine, in fact, where she is a summoner and not a clockwork engineer. ( ... )

Rarity. 8|a So there's this other character I've recycled a couple times named Artemis, who's basically a poncy noble snob, and he's REALLY FUN to play. When I first saw MLP:FIM, I was like "Holy shit Rarity is Artemis." They're different enough--Rarity's a hard worker and Artemis is a lazy SOB, Rarity actually knows what compassion is and Arty has yet to learn--that I can say Lacy is a mix of the two. She's Artemis, with some personality traits from Rarity to make her not insufferable.
But mostly the inspiration was Rarity. The PB I'm using for her is even a PB I had picked out for a human Rarity which I had been thinking of apping to re_fated.
SebastianIs another lifted-from-my-novel character. Sadly, his original incarnation (in SVW) worked a lot better than his GH one. I accidentally made him too dumb and gave him a vindictive streak 8|a Anyway in the book he's a Valkyrie, with powers over luck, and he's sort of the happy-go-lucky devil-may-care character who's always upbeat and trying to cheer everyone else up. He ( ... )
