If the Amtrak trains were ever on time, if they didn't leave me stranded in the middle of nowhere for hours at a time, and so on, I think they'd be a decent public service. Also, two people died on a Metra train pretty recently.
But, hey, ...now you've got Debbie Stabenow on your side! You should let her know that if she really wants to assist you and your family, she should [fill in the blank].
hi sarah, sorry i meant to reply to this earlier. i know my love of amtrak doesn't fit with some principles of yours, and possibly mine, but whatever man, i love riding amtrak! the reason the trains are late is because of their dependence on shared tracks with freight and having a single track. were any decent amount of money spent and the chicago-detroit corridor had two-way tracks all the way, delays would be minimized.
metras quicker than driving to the loop for a lot of people, especially from the suburbs. and their fatality rate is easily much less than the automobile's, no?
