Hornblower who you tried to watch like the fairground game of balls and cups, that you thought you could follow but yet again he would emerge somewhere else, in some other mood or with some other idea.

I particularly loved this image.

Thanks! there's a great Breughel painting of this. It's hard to find cultural references that work historically and in the now, but art saved me!

JESUS. Bush's death, and the laws of chance. OH HORNBLOWER. :( This is so in concert with CSF's vision of Hornblower and his ruthlessness.

AND YET ... And Bush could say, with the worn and truest heart of the truest man there ever was, that it was still the Hornblower he loved.

You know. I don't know how to express how much I love Bush, but it goes beyond the ludicrous into a universe of its own. There are not words enough to get this down. BUT: if there is anyone who gets it, who understands on quite which absurdly, frenetically heart-bursting level I love Bush and Hornblower:

This is really and truly fantastic: the ruthless and yet oddly vulnerable Hornblower, the wary and yet faithful Bush--so heartbreaking and perfectly in character. Thanks for playing!
