Except, whatever, C is a bit of a mad rule. Do what you like.

1. Those of you who know my real name still don't know my real name. I changed it on a whim when I was 23. I like this, it feels like a layer of protection.

2. Capers, as in the small pickled things you put on pizzas and salads, spook me out. Capers! Capers! Capering about my food! They make me think of bird nests, very spindly bones, and the Wicked Witch of the West.

3. I've had night terrors for the last ten years. That means waking up screaming every couple of months. It's scarier for my flatmates than for me. It also makes the insomnia, sleepwalking, and sleeptalking feel normal.

4. I've got this brilliant ability with pop lyrics. Play any song from the late 80s or the 90s and I'll be able to sing along word for word, even though I didn't even like or particularly listen to the song at the time. I wish I could transfer this talent to, say, remembering names.

5. I have perfect pitch. I can sightread music and play flute and sing, but I'm not particularly good at any of it. In school  - which was the best state school in the country for music - they used to place us in the classroom in order of Bentley Test scores and I'd be right at the front picking out tunes with one finger, next to all these musical prodigies.

6. I'm always the person who looks after the puking drunk at parties. I'm a totally selfish and non-nursey person and I'm not practical in the least, but something about the situation always starts me rolling up my sleeves, holding heads over toilet bowls, and grabbing the mop. I dunno. I think I just get a kick from not being - for once - the most ridiculous person in the room.

7. I'm skinny and toned but I never exercise. I develop muscle tone without really doing anything. In fact I'm a trainer's worst nightmare and vary across a lot of bad eating behaviours: I eat extremely faddishly, or I regularly forget to eat, and I snack, I binge, I eat junk food. I don't feel in the least bit psychologically affected by it. These days my attitude is healthier - I adore cooking good food, but only as long as the social ritual is there. 'eating alone gives one bad habits', as HH put it.
