Wolfsbane is a particularly difficult potion. Given the lack of general knowledge of the author, I felt it was safe to assume she was not up to preparing it. Had I given her false hopes that she could approach a werewolf during the full moon by giving it wolfsbane, she might have attempted it. I've no doubt the results would be disastrous.
I was about to say that. But then again, Mr. Snape had no interest in approachin Remus in the first place. He brewed the potion to avoid seeing Hogwarts changed into a werefolf factory.
You are correct that my assistance to Lupin was not due to an interest in being able to approach him. It was the Headmaster's request that I provide the potion and I did so. For further discussion, consult my answer to Professor Archer above.
