Have I mentioned that they break my heart? I might have mentioned it. But oh, oh, they break my heart. I love how bittersweet this is and how neither Sam nor Dean want to go back there, ever want to do that again, but what choice is there? But rather than actually going in, they go to the Impala instead because it's home and they need home right now and aaaaw, break my heart, I swear. I love how very tired Dean feels here and how he wants to blow up Ruby's car but how there's the smidgen of hope because it's his Sam in the passenger seat. And how Sam almost gets angry and how familiar the sight has been this past year, only then he deflates, and oh, SAM. And Dean bracing to get through it? Oh, DEAN.

The discomfort that both of them would have to be feeling about returning to Bobby's right now is sort of why I had them at a motel in my coda, not in South Dakota. And yeah, both the princess argument and the panic room trauma will probably be brushed under the rug in future episodes in favor of not-the-daddy!Bobby being a source of comfort still, but yeah. I really like your version so much better than that alternative!

Honestly, I think that whole "He'll DIE!" bit was rubbish. Bobby had already admitted openly that he didn't know what the detox would do and while Sam was absolutely miserable in the panic room, he seemed about 10000% better the moment he got out there. Which really makes me think that it was the panic room itself that made it so bad because they left him in there alone

The wickedly sad part is that I think if Dean had been in there, Sam wouldn't have had the fake!Dean hallucination (if he'd had any of them at all), and then he wouldn't have been so trigger happy about the "monster" comment and wouldn't have A) strangled Dean and B) given up hope after listening to the voicemail. Which doesn't absolve Sam in the slightest, but since Show hinged those two very crucial moments on the fake!Dean hallucination and then tweaked Dean's character to keep him from going in, I'm just sort of wincing over the plot hole. All I would have needed right then is some confirmation on Dean's part that seeing Sam in that condition right after watching him slurp down blood like a raspberry daiquiri was just Too Much for him to process right then, but we didn't get that. We got worried, quietly freaking out Dean (as well I'd expect!) but not one that would go see Sam

I love the fact that the Impala is home to them. And I love how though they both know what's needed they feel it best to stay in the car for a while. ♥♥♥♥♥

Fantastic. I loved how you added the Impala. It really is the only home they've ever had. Just such a great job of Dean trying to play it cool, and Sam having these heart breaking stuttered confessionals, and rounding it all out w/ Dean's thoughts & POV. Awesome.
