I'd estimate less then 5% of americans put others before themselves. Of course, you can't blame them. It's actually quite important to care more about yourself. Or so I'd think. Maybe I'd just like to think of myself as a better person then I am.
Anyway, those who like to speak their minds obviously won't think about the others around them's feelings first. Their logic is, "it's how I feel so it should be said". If someone offends you like that, I'd counter it with my own feelings.
In any case, I'm sorry someone hurt your.. or your friends.. or something similiar.. 's feelings. ;-;
