Dad needs kidney surgery. They have to remove a tumor. Before it can even start, they have to run all sorts of tests to see if he could even live through the surgery.  He would need to go down to Boston to do it; I'd take him, obviously. Its not cancerous (they don't think) but its growing and its in a bad place. They are probably going to have to

Of course I don't mind. And thank you. Its nice to know I have a lot of support.

I've spent the last year or so mentally and physically preparing for his death, that way its less of a shock when it does happen. As terrible as that sounds, thinking to myself that its possible that he might die tomorrow is better than not thinking about it at all. it actually keeps me sane.

No, I completely understand where you're coming from. What it coldly comes down to: You still have to live your life, sanely, before and after your dad.

I talked to mum. She asked me if you've spoken to your priest yet, and that she still has the number if you haven't; When are you guys heading down to Boston, and for how long?

Yeah I've talked to her- she's aware. I'm pretty good at giving her updates about my dad, especially because I cannot do it alone.

I am not sure when or for how long yet- dad has to do all the testing. It has to be ASAP though, so within the next month or two probably. And then there's going to be rehab at home or at a rehab place.
