Body and Appearance
1. Describe the character's height and build. Is he heavyset, thin, short, rangy?
Thin, lean, but well-muscled, particularly in his upper arms and chest.
2. How old is he?
Twenty-three.
3. Describe his posture. Does he carry himself well or does he slouch?
Ultra-casual, sensual, slouches
4. How is his health? Is he fit or out of shape? Any illnesses or conditions? Any physical disabilities?
Fit, no conditions, no disabilities.
5. How does he move? Is he clumsy, graceful, tense, fluid?
Incredibly graceful and fluid, but very flashy. It's been remarked upon that Zelos's fighting style is elegant and has a great deal of flair in contrast to Kratos's.
6. How attractive is this character physically? How does he perceive himself in the mirror?
Fuckin' hot, and he knows it.
7. Describe his complexion. Dark, light, clear, scarred?
Light, clear, nobility-pale.
8. Describe his hair: color, texture, style.
Extremely long--reaches just past his ass, thick, curls at the bottom, fire engine red.
9. What color are his eyes?
Blue.
10. Does the character have any other noteworthy features?
Exsphere/Cruxis Crystal + Key Crest just below the dip in his collarbone.
11. What are his chief tension centers?
Shoulders and upper back. Dat posture, man.
12. What is the character's wardrobe like? Casual, dressy, utilitarian? Bright colors, pastels, neutrals? Is it varied, or does he have six of the same suit?
Distinctly casual in contrast to other Tethe'allan nobles, but more stylish than the rest of the party. He prefers bright, vivid, eye-catching colors, but knows how to dress for occasion and will choose appropriate tones to suit. He goes for stark contrasts: black vs. white, black vs. pink, bright colors vs. monochrome.
13. Do his clothes fit well? Does he seem comfortable in them?
Very well--tailored to fit--and he definitely seems comfortable in them.
14. Does he dress the same on the job as he does in his free time? If not, what are the differences?
Haha, no. Unless the royal family specifically tells him to show up wearing a certain thing, he'll wear whatever he feels like and fuck the Tethe'allan fashion police.
15. You knew it was coming: Boxers, briefs or commando?
Briefs.
Speech
1. What does this character's voice sound like? High-pitched, deep, hoarse?
Fuck I am bad at this uhhhh... Pretty mellow, about mid-range for a man's, though he tends to pitch it a bit higher. It's lower when he's more relaxed.
2. How does he normally speak? Loud, soft, fast, evenly? Does he talk easily, or does he hesitate?
LOUD, and he talks very smoothly and easily, often with a suggestive undertone.
3. Does the character have a distinct accent or dialect? Any individual quirks of pronunciation? Any, like, you know, verbal tics?
He has no notable dialect, but headcanon is that Tethe'allan Aselian is its own dialect apart from Sylvaranti Aselian. His speech is super casual, with lots of conversational fillers, which drop the more serious he's being.
4. What language/s does he speak, and with how much fluency?
Aselian fluently, and he can read and write in the angelic language. He can probably speak it a bit too, but less naturally, since it's a dead language and not even Cruxis uses it for communication.
5. Does he switch languages or dialects in certain situations?
No, but he switches registers. Normally he's quite flirtatious and casual, but shifts to slightly more serious during serious situations.
6. Is he a good impromptu speaker, or does he have to think about his words?
Very good impromptu, but he frequently considers his words before speaking, or at least considers the general shape of what he's going to say.
7. Is he eloquent or inarticulate? Under what circumstances might this change?
Highly eloquent when he decides to put in the little effort it costs him. Zelos is very good with words, and slips up about as often as he is shocked.
Mental and Emotional
1. How intelligent is this character? Is he book-smart or street-smart?
incredibly so. He has a very solid combination of book and street smarts. He's one of the most practiced liars in the game. His modus operandi is using people to ensure he ends up on the winning side, and to that end he spends much of the game playing three separate factions off each other. He's sharp as a knife and usually picks up and comments on important new information before Raine, the party's resident intellectual genius
As for book smarts, well, not long after he joins the party Raine sets him to taking over instructing Lloyd and Genis at math; he's very, very good at math. He was first in his class at the Imperial Research Academy in Sybak, though he does admit that he got his scores by getting his groupies to do his work and write his papers for him. But just because he cheated his way through school doesn't mean he learned nothing; he's still quite book smart. If the entire party is present for Genis's Honor Roll side event, they all sit the Palmacosta Academy entrance exam. Discounting the Sage siblings who score perfect and near-perfect respectively, Zelos has the highest score in the party, at 300 points out of a total of 400 (for reference, the other party member's scores were Regal - 290, Presea - 240, Colette - 210, Sheena - 190, and Lloyd - 25). While Sylvarant's level of knowledge and education is less developed than Tethe'alla's, Zelos was outscored by two Sylvaranti, so the Palmacosta Academy's exam lives up to its reputation as ridiculously difficult. It's also likely the exam included a number of history questions, which Zelos would have had to guess the answers for. And he probably treated the test fairly seriously out of curiosity, rather than just blowing the whole thing off.
2. Does he think on his feet, or does he need time to deliberate?
It's incredibly dependent on the situation, but he is a very quick thinker. Again, sharp as a knife. But for more serious decisions, he'll take his time and deliberate before coming to a conclusion.
3. Describe the character's thought process. Is he more logical, or more intuitive? Idealistic or practical?
For the most part Zelos is a very logical, calculated person, and he prides himself on that. He's practical and knows how to prioritize his goals. With Lloyd's influence, though, he's started to weigh his own feelings in as well and has become a great deal more idealistic, but never at the cost of logic. His own sister gets kidnapped and he takes the time to assess the situation, consult the king, organize a rescue party, make all the proper preparations, and set out on his way before starting to flip out in anger. He also likes to play devil's advocate a lot to balance out the thinking of Lloyd et al., regardless of whether he agrees, just to make sure they have a broader perspective.
4. What kind of education has the character had?
The best money can buy. Private tutors until he was twelve or thirteen, when he was sent to Sybak to study at the Imperial Research Academy.
5. What are his areas of expertise? What, if anything, is he interested in learning more about?
As noted above, he's very good at math, and headcanon is that he's likewise good at and interested in economics, though definitely not to nearly the same degree as Regal. He doesn't really have any particular interests, though, as far as academic fields or areas of learning.
6. Is he an introvert or an extrovert?
Huge extrovert, but with his deeper feelings more often than not detached from the situation. He's very friendly and outgoing, but also extremely guarded.
7. Describe the character's temperament. Is he even-tempered or does he have mood swings? Cheerful or melancholy? Laid-back or driven?
For the most part he's pretty cheerful, really laid-back, and acts like an obnoxious drama queen though in actuality he's more even-tempered. Still, this is Zelos. Certain situations will bring his darker thoughts/feelings to mind, and under that easygoing nature is a surprising degree of intensity.
8. How does he respond to new people or situations? Is he suspicious, relaxed, timid, enthusiastic?
He's never not mistrustful of new people, though he'll react to meeting them with enthusiasm (women) or flippant boredom (men). As a general rule he doesn't like being surprised because he wants to react with a level head. If something is surprising in a bad way, it's harder to keep things light because he also has to process his feelings on the new development. He doesn't like being thrown off his game, but he's well aware that that's just how life works.
9. Is he more likely to act, or to react?
React react react react. Acting equals a personal investment in the outcome, and if the result is not the desired outcome (or worse, if it's the undesired outcome), you get hurt. Which is why the moments when he does choose to act (notably: getting aionis) are so important.
10. Which is his default: fight or flight?
Well, his Welgaia miniboss is the Coward. He doesn't run away from battles per se so much as responsibility, making choices, and emotional attachment.
11. Describe the character's sense of humor. Does he appreciate jokes? Puns? Gallows humor? Bathroom humor? Pranks?
Jokes, puns, pranks (so long as they don't require making an effort), lewd humor--it's all good. Frequently his jokes are at someone else's expense, but he often sets himself up to be the butt of other people's jokes or is used that way. He acts annoyed, but he doesn't really care that much.
12. Does the character have any diagnosable mental disorders? If yes, how does he deal with them?
Bad end he's...pretty much a walking example for self-destructive, suicidal depression.
13. What moments in this character's life have defined him as a person?
» Meeting Seles.
» His mother's murder.
» Lloyd Irving, idiot hero extraordinaire.
14. What does he fear?
That his perception of himself is how he really is, and that it and his status define his worth. He fears being hurt, which is why he closes himself off to prevent attachment.
15. What are his hopes or aspirations?
For a long-ass time all he's wanted was for his life to just not be as complicated as it is, but deep down he's also wanted someone to just give a damn about him. Trust, being relied on, being valued is all just...so incredibly, hugely important to Zelos, and I don't think he even realized it until he started to get attached to Lloyd, Colette, and the others, and started wanting them and them specifically to trust him. He needs to be needed. Once he finally does get that trust and come to terms with it, Zelos has a huge shift in values. He's earned Lloyd's trust, but he needs to live up to it. It's made him realize that what he wants, really, is to become a better person, both for himself and to be worthy of Lloyd's good faith. He loves the idea of the world Lloyd envisions--he knows it's way too shiny and divorced from reality, but he loves it anyway--and he wants to be a part in shaping it to prove to himself that he has worth. He has value as Lloyd's friend, of course, but he wants to find his own self-value too. And he wants to make a place where Seles can grow up without becoming like him.
16. What is something he doesn't want anyone to find out about him?
What isn't something he doesn't want anyone to find out? He's ridiculously guarded, so much so that he only ever confides in Lloyd, and even then it's hard as hell to get his relationship stat high enough that he'll actually do that. Absolutely everything related to his mother is kept shut up tight.
Relationships
1. Describe this character's relationship with his parents.
The Wilder family soap opera... Where the hell do I even start.
Zelos hates his father, but like all of his other intense feelings, it's deeply rooted and shut up tight. More than anyone else in his family, himself aside, his father is the one Zelos most blames for everything he and Seles have been through. His father was the one who ran away from his wife and son to find comfort with a mistress, but then killed himself when the affair came to light and he couldn't deal with the shame. He was completely unwilling to take up the responsibility he owed to his children for bringing them into the world, and there is nothing Zelos loathes more than a selfish, neglectful parent. Ironically, Zelos's attitude towards Seles is the same way: he's willing to dump his title and all of its involved complications on her, and comforts himself with the lie that it's what she wants. He knows how much he's like his father, and that only makes him hate his father more.
His feelings towards his mother, though, are much more complicated. As a young boy Zelos was lonely, starved for attention, and desperate for his mother's affection. While both parents were neglectful, Mylene at least was around. Her dying words fucked him up beyond belief.
2. Does the character have any siblings? What is/was their relationship like?

Some distant cousins, probably, but none he's close to or considers family.

He's incredibly social, but doesn't really make actual friends easily by virtue of pissing most people off and also being so cynical.

Seles first and always, but it's not really a choice because his friends can take care of themselves.
