Being Tommy's Mommy

Oct 15, 2009 17:51

Things have been really up and down lately.  Tom's having some real issues with breastfeeding.  He keeps latching on for a few seconds (or just a few minutes) only to "pop off" and scream and cry.  Sometimes he chokes - other times it's as if he just doesn't know how to stay latched on.  Yesterday he did great - the day before was a nightmare - and ( Read more... )

hey you!

I've been trying to email you, but the emails keep getting bounced back to me. I was wondering if anyone has mention APNO (all purpose nipple ointment) in helping you with the thrush on your nipples yet. Or Oil of Oregano (both of you can take it, you orally, him just smear on the bottom of his feet). and also making sure you've washed in hot water (or boiled) your nursing bras/tops/nursing pads, along with a vinegar scald, to really help kill the yeast in your clothes.

good luck! I'm glad to hear about the breast pump!

That sucks! Don't know what the deal is with the e-mails then?

Haven't tried APNO - Oddly enough, my nipples don't hurt (much) they mostly itch. My biggest complaint would have to be "deep breast pain". Haven't heard of Oil of Oregano either...

Thanks for the input!

Sounds like we're in the same boat! We both have thrush and my little Leilah has reflux really bad. :(

I'll be going to WIC this Saturday to get my pump. I wonder if I'll get the same one as you!!!

Have you tried the Monistat? My LC told me to use that 4-6x a day during the day for two weeks and then apply the Gentian Violet after the last evening feeding..try that for 4 days applying once. She also told me to take a good probiotic. I'm taking Kyo-Dophilus. I -think- she said they make it for children as well but I could be wrong.

I hope things get better for you and Tommy. It's really tough and I think I'm just as upset as you are! *hugs*

I hope you do get the same pump - it's awesome! *I have OAL too (I just read your journal) - so I wind up using it a lot to help "take some off the top" - hand expressing does NOTHING for us!

Did you have to pay for the LC (I'm on Medicaid - and am pretty damn poor)?

Did she say why Leilah was having such a hard time? Was it the Thrush?

Hang in there! It's got to get better!

*HUGS*

Hand expressing does nothing for us either! And it hurts so bad. A friend of my MIL actually paid for her services as a baby shower gift. I'm not sure how much she charges. I can give you her number if you'd like and you can ask her. From what I've heard they're not cheap and I'm on Medicaid too. Ramen poor. :(

Having the OAL doesn't help and Leilah gets really aggravated because so much flows into her mouth. My LC also said that that doesn't help with the reflux either. It's definitely a combination of the OAL, Leilah having relfux and both of us having Thrush. It's tough and I'm trying my damnedest to hang in there! It DOES have to get better :D

I know i'm late replying to this, (I haven't been on the computer in about a week), but hang in there! The older they get, the easier it is for them to eat.

Thrush must suck. Good luck with that. I was lucky enough not to get it the last time (knock on wood) and hopefully I won't get it this time either.

Hope he grows out of the reflux.
