Cookies 8D

This time it was taking place in a kitchen.

"Mom what are you doing."

Lavi pushed a small stool next to his mother who was mixing something in a bowl. Climbing up he peered at the bowl. He made a face of disgust. Pinching his nose to block the foul smell he looked at his mother.

"Are you alright sweetie? You look a little green"

She puts the bowl down and gently puts one hand on his forehead the other one on the back of his neck.

"You don't seem to have a fever."

"No, I'm fine. Mom, what exactly is that." He points at the bowl.  She removes her hands to grab the bowl again.

"I'm making cookies" He blinks. He couldn't believe that green foul blob of... did it just move.

"Um... Mom. Why didn't you ask the maid to make them"

She rests her finger against her chin trying to appear in deep thought. "That's because I haven't cooked anything in a while. I also wanted to make you something."

She bends down to give him a soft peck on the cheek.  A blush starts forming on Lavi's cheeks. Rubbing the place were she kissed him, he pouts.

"Sweetie?"

Lavi doesn't say anything instead jumps off the stool and walks out the kitchen. Looking at his retreating form she can't help but smile.

"Boys"

He does eventually come back with crayons and a notebook. He sits at the table. His mom who has already put the cookies in the oven goes to Lavi; sitting next to him she glances at the notebook.

"What are you drawing." He looks at his mom curiously. Lavi thought it was obvious. The drawing had two stick figures looking up at a starlight sky.

"It's you and me looking at the sky....the real sky." She gives him a stern look. "Lavi you know that topic is taboo."

"I know, but I want to see the sky again. The real sky, the real stars. Those stars belong to those contra---." His mom quickly covers his mouth with her hand.  She gives him a stern look, but it was soon replaced by a soft one.

"I know sweetie. I want to see the real sky too."

A beep rang through the kitchen. Letting Lavi go she stands up.

"The cookies are ready."  He watches as his mother skips to the oven, he then glances at the door. What was more tempting his mother's cookies that would surely bring death, or a way to escape. Hmm what to choose?

Lavi found himself walking towards his mother. His mom gave him a plate of what he thought were supposed to be cookies. Grabbing it he thanked her. He stayed there for a couple of minutes. Just staring at the green glob of well he's not sure.

"Mom...I'm not really hungry." He moves to give her the plate back, but he stops. She was giving him that sad puppy eye look. He could never say no to that look. He takes a deep inhale then an exhale. Grabbing a cookie, he shudders. That thing curled around his finger. In a quick motion he swallows it. In a matter of seconds he's falling to the floor, but a pair of soft arms stop him. She holds him close.

"Sweetie! What's wrong"

His breathing has become labored.

"Mom---I never thought this would be my last day of life. Don't blame yourself. I didn't willingly knowing the consequence.  I know that I don't say this enough but I love you, and---"
