Abilities
Character's Canon Abilities: Leon is first and foremost an extremely capable fighter, wielding a weapon called a Gunblade, which, in his original canon, is stated to be incredibly difficult to master--it's a sword with a gun mechanism in place of the hilt, the barrel extending into the blade. Pulling the trigger at the correct moment, just at the time of contact, sends a shockwave through the blade that increases damage dealt--it fires no actual projectiles. The recoil of the round can also be used to push Leon forward at a fast speed (Final Fantasy logic and rules of physics, don't ask.) He also shows an affinity for fire magic, offensive spells being commonplace in the Kingdom Hearts continuity. Presumably, he could learn others--he just chooses not to.
Conditional: If your character has no superhuman canon abilities, what dormant ability will you give them? N/A

History/Personality/Plans/etc.
Character History: Squall Leonhart was a resident of the world Radiant Garden, before the rise of Xehanort and the Heartless; and the world's subsequent near-destruction and rebirth as Hollow Bastion. He, along with Aerith and Yuffie, were rescued from the crumbling world by Cid, and the four managed to escape to Traverse Town--however they were separated from their other friends and their families. Some made it to other worlds, however the young Squall knew that many of them didn't, and he blamed himself for their loss. Angry and ashamed that he could not defend his home and loved ones from the Heartless, Squall took the name of Leon to distance himself from his percieved failure, swearing never to use his real name until the complete defeat of the Heartless and the restoration of his world. Only 15 years old, and already with the guilt of his world's demise on his young shoulders, Leon threw himself into finding a way to defeat the Heartless and restore peace.
While in Traverse Town, starting when he was a teenager, Leon formed a resistance group against the Heartless, consisting of survivors from other worlds--the core group made up of himself, Yuffie, Aerith, and Cid--and concentrated on keeping an area of Traverse Town safe against Maleficent and her Heartless army by fighting them off, even if it was a neverending battle--without the Keyblade, it was harder for them to defeat the Heartless, and impossible to keep them away or to seal the world so they wouldn't attack anymore. He also traveled between worlds in Cid's gummi ship, assisting other refugees and helping them safely get to Traverse Town or other 'safe' worlds. During this time he made the acquaintance of King Mickey and gained the ruler's respect as well, and learned about the Keyblade and as much as he could about the Heartless. Including the fact that they had come from Radiant Garden, now called Hollow Bastion and completely overrun with the things. Leon's guilt only grew with the revelation--somehow he felt that he could have stopped all of it.
When the Keyblade wielder was revealed, Donald and Goofy were sent by the king to find Leon, knowing that the leader of Traverse Town's resistance force would be able to point them in the right direction of the Wielder. Leon had already found Sora (and soundly trounced him) within the First District of Traverse Town, and also informed him of the Heartless and his destiny as the chosen wielder of the Keyblade. (All while sounding like a bit of an ass.)
After helping Sora, Donald, and Goofy a few more times during the events of the first game, Leon's group sheltered the Keyblade Wielder, his companions, as well as Kairi after their escape from Hollow Bastion--and followed when Sora left for the final battle with Maleficent, finally able to return to his home world. After Maleficent's defeat, Leon and the others watched as Sora closed the keyhole to their world, saying their farewells--since they didn't know if they would ever see Sora again. The universe restored--for now--Leon was reunited with many of his surviving friends within the sealed Hollow Bastion. However, not all of them were returned, and the world still wasn't set right--so he continued to go by Leon, doing the best he could to help rebuild the world and find the scattered survivors of Hollow Bastion. However, despite his quiet promise to always remember Sora, even if he never saw him again, during the events of Chain of Memories, Leon did forget the Keyblade wielder, along with everyone else due to Namine's intervention. They continued to work on restoring Hollow Bastion, until suddenly about a year later everyone regained their memories of Sora...their first clue that shit was gonna start going south again. And then Sora reappeared in Hollow Bastion.
Holding down the fort was all well and good, but there was a massive army of Heartless gathered around the castle, something Leon knew that none of the Restoration Committee would be able to handle without the help of the Keyblade wielder. He's then told of Nobodies by Sora, and helped him fight against a few of them--as well as facing a member of Organization XIII. During the Battle of Hollow Bastion, he fought against the massive army of Nobodies and Heartless sent to attack the Hollow Bastion settlement alongside Sora and the rest of the Restoration Committee.
Point in Canon: After the battle for Hollow Bastion.
Conditional: Brief summary of previous RP history: N/A
Character Personality: At first, Leon acted much like his Final Fantasy incarnation--he seemed to be cold and aloof--and he didn't really care to change this image. He had a very somber outlook on life, and who could really blame him with how his life had gone to that point? However, he was also more open to those he considered friends--once you earn his trust and respect. But once you did, Leon was incredibly loyal. Everyone looked at him as sort of a de-facto leader, but honestly he probably viewed himself more as just a part of the group--he never asked, nor wanted to be the leader of anything.
His personality changed quite a lot in the time between Kingdom Hearts 1 and 2. While he's still rather quiet and self-possessed, he's also by far more cheerful and can more easily relate with other people now. Hell, sometimes he even smiles and teases. He has grown into a very competent leader, he seems to have the natural talent for it--as much as he denied this earlier. He is a more than able fighter as well, and also has a talent for spellcasting. He is very knowledgable about Heartless behavior and other worlds.
However, underneath all his quiet confidence, he has a fear of failure and letting down the people he cares about. He will not tolerate any weakness in himself, whether it be physical or emotional. He doesn't consider himself able to make any kinds of mistakes--he feels that he should be above that.
Despite himself, and however loudly he might protest to the contrary sometimes especially where Yuffie is concerned, Leon does care about people deeply and is very loyal to his friends and allies. He doesn't have the same hangups about getting close to other people that his original canon self did--he hasn't experienced the complete abandonment that Squall did in Final Fantasy, and he's not so overtly paranoid about being forgotten--though it probably is still a deep-set fear of his. He will do absolutely everything in his power to protect others. However, he's also been forced to learn how to be pragmatic--he's a leader in what is essentially a war, and will put people in danger if he has to in order to fight for the greater good. The decision will tear at him, however--it would be the absolute last option available to him, and he'd be right there in the thick of it himself, too. Leon doesn't believe in standing by on the sidelines while others are putting themselves in danger...and even when everything's getting rough, he'll worry more about others than himself, if even just in a quiet way. He has emotional responses, he's just rather subdued when displaying them. But he's a lot better about it than he was before.

Third Person Sample
Leon had wasted little time lying prone on the ground, once he'd awoken. Familar enough with the feeling of waking up in a place that wasn't home (damn it, not again, this was all supposed to be over,) he drew his gunblade close and sat up, taking stock of his surroundings. He didn't necessarily like what he saw. The messages, the damaged cityscape--the gloom of twilight close at hand. The last he remembered, he'd been fighting alongside Cloud. He'd felt an odd pressure, which he'd ignored, until...
Here he was. With no real idea where, precisely, 'here' was, a terrible headache, dizzy, and with a ringing in his ears. He hadn't felt so terrible in years. And he couldn't see anyone around that he recognized--Cloud was the first person he looked for, then Yuffie, Aerith, Cid, Sora, Donald, Goofy...no one obvious.
So wherever he was, he was alone. For the moment, anyway.
Dejected and bewildered (though he would never admit it,) Leon stood and rested his Revolver across his shoulders. The standing vantage point did a lot more to inform him as to his surroundings than sitting--he was in the middle of a baseball field. Strange place to end up. There were people around--carrying tools or working on buildings ruined by something, what precisely he wasn't sure about.
Then he caught sight of something dark on the ground in front of him, positioned like it fell out of one of his pockets. It was lying face-down, and the symbol of Griever was on its case, a mirror image of the pendant he always wore--but he hadn't seen the device before in his life.
This was getting exceedingly strange.
