I decided to un-friend a bunch of people off of LJ. Mostly people don't update ever, so that's not a big deal. It felt kind of weird to "un-friend" people who I consider my friends. They don't update though, so I don't know what they're up to. I know a few of my long time friends check my journal every once in a while, but this stuff is ( Read more... )

that is why i don't facebook! i would like everybody that would like to be friends with me to jump through flaming hoops to do so.
if that sounds like a joke i would like to amend that everybody acts like it is a circus act to have to contact you individually by text, etc, but really i have not set the hoops on fire, it's only colored paper, and the hoops are resting on the ground! all i want you to do to be friends is walk forward.

That's exactly why I don't have facebook either! I could get into a long rant about it but I won't right now. It's amazing how much I miss out on just because people can't be bothered to communicate outside of that website, and I find the whole thing kind of worrying, honestly. I'd like things to be less digital and more real, too.

I did the same with LJ last week. I de friended apart everyone I'm not mutual friends with. I plan on going back and doing it again to people who don't update. But I feel bad bc I know some people read entries still but don't update or comment.
I mostly just wish that the people who's journals I love would come back. Come back to LJ.
I understand what you mean about people actually reaching out. I miss out on a ton bc I don't have face book. But if I miss a party or show bc they only did an invite on Facebook, they didn't really want me there anyway.
