Well that's just insane! Sparkly and grumbly are too valid spellings! (My BritEng Semagic dictionary likes sparkly but not grumbly.)

The majority of my various word processors agree that sparkly is, indeed, a legitimate word, but grumbly struck out again and again. My new hypothesis is that I somehow managed to download/install an AmEng dictionary originating from 1880, where it was clearly improper and quite possibly illegal to have fun with words.
(Ironically, Semagic's German dictionary accepts the quirky and utterly wrong german manipulation to "sparkly.")
