Dear Rhodes College:

I'm sorry, but I am PRETTY FRIGGING POSITIVE that you cannot force me to either choose between Direct Depositing my checks or opting into a Rhodes debit card - whatever the boiled goose eggs THAT is ( Read more... )

1) WTF is a Rhodes debit card?
Must you pay for this . . . privilege?
The stupidity of it all concerns me.

2) Why does nobody think about the poor electrons? We cruelly use and waste them in millions of inventive ways daily and yet, here we go forcing more to be sacrificed. How many more electrons must be wasted before someone stands up for them? How many?! - - - - [I'm kinda sleepy when writing this response... therefore I have little idea what I mean when I say things like this. Well, really, to be completely honest, I rarely know what I'm talking about, but that is neither here nor there.]

2) This post of lard and angstyRhodesness compels me to say...
...I miss you!

0) OMG YOUR ICON (I knew there was a reason I tolerated you)

1) This is the exact phrasing of that portion of the e-mail: "If you do not wish to have direct deposit then we will have the option of a Payroll Bank Card. Our goal is by August of 2009 you will have to choose, Direct Deposit or the Payroll Card(which is a debit card)"
(WARNING - two grammatical seppukus lurk in it.)

So apparently, a 'payroll card,' AKA "rhodes wanted to make more shit up and then stick it with another terrible name, like LYNX$ and FACES and CARES," acts just like a debit card. A debit card that is not gonna be accepted ANYWHERE without me going, "yes, yes I SWEAR it's real money!...nononono, please don't call the FBI ;_;"

2) YES, exactly! Those poor electrons, enslaved against their will! WILL NO ONE THINK OF THEIR CHILDREN?! NO ONE?!?
-cough-

2) You put "2" twice. I don't know how to react to that.

Yeah I ran into the "save paper" philosophy recently, at burger king no less, they wouldn't give me the slip that showed what they ran my card for because they "wanted to save the rainforests and the trees" (thats right, they said and) and refused to give it to me. I had to go through the employee, one manager, and then the assistant manager to eventually get it. Apparently saving two inches of paper was more important than letting me know they didn't overcharge my card. :p

Although, most direct deposits give you some kind of payslip for your records ANYWAY, so you aren't really saving paper >.> That's like offering to pay people in gift cards, it really shouldn't work. I would go over their heads with this if you have to. Generally if you throw enough fuss, someone will eventually give in to get rid of you. :P

...dude, that's like... I have no words o.0 wth? Aren't they REQUIRED to give a bill of sale???

I'm thinking that's a good plan. I mean, I'm only here for ONE MORE YEAR anyway - and I can't be the only one who's like, "dude wth NO," i really can't. I just need to find the time to go BE a bitch ~.~ This would be easier if the world could magically re-adjust itself so that more things were open past the hours of 8AM-5PM...
