muskrit's anti-vampire is officially broken

On Saturday, Neko and I watched Season 1 of True Blood. I had seen it last year when I was visiting my folks for Thanksgiving (my stepmom loves it), but it's always interesting to have a rewatch when you know what's coming ( Read more... )

I gave up shortly after Godric showed up. Fans of a certain het pairing in the show seem to overwhelm every TB forum with their obsessive fangirling, and they killed TB for me. I get the feeling I'd have liked Godric/Eric though (mainly for Godric, since Eric doesn't do much for me).

Well, crap. Was it the Bill/Sookie crowd or the Eric/Sookie crowd ruining it for you? Er. I mean, I'm assuming Bill/Sookie...I don't even know if there is an Eric/Sookie crowd, though I read part of an interview with Alan Ball where he was talking about the sexual tension between those three in the books.

I have to admit I always found Eric's sense of humor pretty darn amusing, especially when he and Pam would snark ever so dryly. Godric's appearance added a dimension I hadn't seen, one that pinged me quite hard.

Actually, I can't figure out why I don't like Bill more than I do. I mean, I like him fine. But in Season 1, I liked Sam/Sookie and now I like Eric/Sookie. I think Bill is the type of vampire that reminds me of Lestat and Angel at their wangstiest.

Anyhow, thanks for the warning. I guess I'll just poke around a little here and there for the fic.

The fact that I referencing Anne Rice and Joss Whedon as the creators of my definitive vampires somewhat makes me want to weep. (Sorry, Mr. Stoker! I didn't mean it like that...)

Not that I think Bill is wangsty! I think I fear that it is lurking beneath his surface, especially if anything were to happen to his relationship with Sookie. I really like him on his own, and I'm very much enjoying the dynamic between him and Jessica so far.

It was the Eric/Sookie crowd, which far outnumbers all the other pairings combined (thanks to Eric's hotness, I suppose.) I actually like Bill/Sookie and Sam/Sookie. I couldn't stand the fighting between the two factions. I got sick of reading 'Team Eric' vs. 'Team Bill.'

This is the fourth show that fandom killed for me. Prison Break, Doctor Who and House were the others. I guess I've finally gotten tired of rabid fans and their pairings. I'm trying to be more careful with what I look at for Supernatural. ^____^

I enjoy True Blood, but I ain't touching the fandom with a 10-foot pole. The crazy is strong with that one.

Honestly, is there such a thing as a fandom in which the crazy is not strong? The only ones I can think of are the ones where I barely dipped a toe. Meaning I really didn't know the fandom at all.

But there's crazy and there's out of your ever-lovin' mind, taken full leave of your senses. And I'm guessing if you and Sharon both mentioned a problem with the fandom without either of you actually being in it, that tips the scales towards the latter option.

I just want my beautiful, beautiful fic for that pairing. Or else I am passing Go, forfeiting the collection of my $200, and heading straight to Jail by returning to RPS with a sort of not-incest fic starring Orlando Bloom (Stellan Skarsgaard's fictional son) and Alexander Skarsgaard (Stellan's RL son).

*headdesk*

Just give me the beautiful, beautiful fic, fandom. For the sake of all.

Now THAT is a fandom I can get behind.

*snortgiggles!*

Don't encourage me! I'm already imagining an unreported visit to the set of Pirates 2 & 3 by Bootstrap Bill's other son...

I'm not even dipping my toes into the TB fandom. I've read a couple of fics (Eric/LaFayette mostly) otherwise the awesomeness that is a thousand years of Godric/Eric slash is safely tucked in my brain.

My belief in the huge quantities of pre-canon Godric/Eric has revealed:

- not much fic at all
- an even split between which of them is in control in the relationship (whereas for me a large part of the appeal is the lack of equality, decidedly in favor of the maker)
- more fic that follows book!canon, in which Godric is a random vampire and Eric's maker was a Roman legionnaire

So I'm not sure the fandom has anything to offer me, after all. I do have visions of Godric taking Eric to a BDSM club. I think Eric would rather like being put on display. (This is set before Eric started up the hierarchy on his own, of course; no one wants to hear about their sheriff licking the boots of another.)

Written in response to your prompt, obviously. Happy very late 2009 New Year Resolution fic reading. Hm. Yeah. Feel free to delete this comment when read. (I'm new to Yuletide, I don't know if people get notifications for NYR or what, so, hm, sorry if I'm spamming you with my ignoramus.)

Randomly, Anne Rice and Joss Whedon, FTW. I'm with you on this one.

*spins in happy circles* Thank you so much, both for the fic and for linking me! I don't think Yuletide does send out NYR notifications, or perhaps mine just wound up in spam. I'm actually in the middle of re-reading the series right now, so this is perfect timing.

You're absolutely welcome! It was fun to write - and your prompt was inspiring.

(And yeah, elynross commented on the fact that there's a notification problem.)
