Big fuckin update
Since I haven't posted since uh, February or so, figured I may as well. Bulleted lists! I like bulleted lists, don't you? Of course you do. Cut for probable tl;dr.
- Still following Pandora Hearts like a god damn hawk. STILL WANT TO KNOW IF LIAM IS ALIVE, FUCK YOU MOCHIJUN. Still calling him Liam because old habits die hard and Reim sounds funny, so if I'm ~contributing to dumbing down of anime and mindless westernization~ you can unfriend me or something. Kind of intrigued by Leo's crazy, wishing I had time to try and translate, hoping somebody else does it for me soon.
- Actually dropped Angel Beats and Durarara. Angel Beats I intend to continue when I've got time, it wasn't great but it was cute. Durarara I'm not sure about. I kind of got bored of it. I didn't like the Saika arc at all. Part of the reason I liked Baccano! so much was the nonlinear chaotic FANTASTIC storytelling, which Durarara just... doesn't have. They put it in the first few epiosdes to lure in unsuspecting Baccano fans, then they were like NOPE NEVER MIND WE'RE JUST NORMAL. I feel cheated.
- Started watching Doctor Who. Holy shit where has this show been all my life. I'm keeping up with the current season and going slowly through the old new seasons (god the timeline for this show is hideously twisted) caught up to almost the end of season two, but have seen bits and pieces of other seasons. I adore Amy and Donna (no I'm not biased to redheads, why do you ask?) and would probably kill Rose Tyler if given the chance. She's not awful she's just... not interesting in the slightest, and she sticks around for so long. SO. LONG.
- Still slowly going through Granada's Sherlock Holmes, just starting season 4. I'm still not sure how I feel about New Watson. I suppose he's probably better than the old one, but I'm still a little nostalgic. Jeremy Brett, however, is eternally amazing.
- Things I need to reread/catch up on: Yozakura Quartet, Elemental Gelade, Zombie Loan.
- Still RPing: Break at The Dollsyhouse, and more recently Liam at the Pandora Hearts dressing room. Break is still my favourite by far but I thought I'd take Liam for a spin and people seem to like him, so I suppose a bit of variety never hurt anyone. I'm contemplating apping the Eleventh Doctor somewhere after his season finishes, but that might be terrible since I don't know previous Doctor Who and there is a massive fanbase probably ready to lynch me if I do anything 'wrong'. I would be safe in Dollsy, at least. Also, as always, considering trying Rowen or Kia from EG, but, as always, held back because playing one without the other is damn near impossible, no one plays from EG, and I would have to canon review, which takes a while since it's-- how long did it end up anyway? 20-something volumes?
REAL LIFE! Yes, that exists too.
- Still unemployed, but after so long of not getting anywhere on my own I finally went down to the career centre the other day and they're actually helpful. Considering my experiences with academic advising, this is really quite astounding. In any case, I'm hopeful for my future prospects now! I mean, within reason.
- Still probably graduating in December, but this hinges on two things; first, my ability to get into Chem II lab, which is full. Second, my ability to find a way to take BIO 205, which isn't offered till spring. This isn't necessary for my psych major, but it is necessary for my bio minor, which I'd really like to have, and have everything else for. I'm hoping to take this at another school.
- Still running- actually sticking to a premade program this time, and progressing much faster this way. I plan to run my first 5k in September. This would be easier if I would stop doing idiotic things, like pulling a muscle on the inside of my rib cage. I didn't even know that was possible but apparently I've done it.
- Got two new rats, Sharon and Pancake. Since ex and I are moving out, we're splitting up Alice and Nikki, but you can't keep rats alone. So at the end of the summer I'm taking Alice and Sharon, and he's taking Nikki and Pancake. I'll miss them, but I'm getting the cooler girls anyway. :3 Pancake is very sleek and soft, but she's dumb as a rock and chews on everything. Sharon is incredibly bright-- she learned to come to her name in 3 or 4 days-- and is definitely the alpha. She also has just a little rex in her, so her fur is straight but it's kind of unruly; she's basically got permanent bedhead. They both like to try and steal my headphones right out of my ears. I have no idea why.
- Went to the boundary waters for a week with my family. It was really fucking gorgeous. Portaging canoes (carrying them over land from one lake to the next) is probably a form of purgatory, but it's absolutely worth it; most of the lakes don't allow motor traffic and you see maybe one or two other canoes the whole day. It's so quiet and undisturbed out there, I really can't describe it. Point is, if you ever get the chance, go there.
