I'd say go with the friends, definitely man. Just as long as you totally trust the friends and it's a positive situation, definitely do that even if it's a little more money. Particularly if sanity is an issue- yeah, I know how that seems sometimes.

yeah, mentoring is like an RA, minus the paycheck and headaches.
