the eternal dilemma

Things are progressing on Raiden, however, I am pretty certain it isn't going to be completed for Minamicon. This leaves me in the position of either wearing an incomplete costume, (it'll be about 80% done) or postponing it until the next event which will likely be Ayacon, leaving me without a new costume ( Read more... )

Ohhhh Tough one...

I've ended up wearing costumes around 90-95% and I have even worked on some at some events.. but it really depends on the costume and which bit won't be quite finished.

I would say work on it anyways, as work done now means less work done later. And if you feel comfortable wearing it slightly not finished then go ahead with it.

Sorry, thats probably not much help. >_<

How noticable is the incompleteness gonna be? basicaly if it will look like you forgot part of it I wouldn't, if it will be a slight lack of detail on parts I'd be tempted to go for it.

Thanks for the comments, I'm prioritising stuff at the moment, putting stuff that's less noticable low on the list of things to do.

I'll know more in the next couple of days, but I've been working on this costume since before Christmas and I have given up every other costume I had planned just to concentrate on this.

I'll keep plugging away and make a decision and give an update nearer the time. I may have to do some work in the hotel room, but nothing major hopefully.

It really depends on how much I really wanted to wear something or if I have a back up outfit if I didn't wear the incomplete costume.

I delayed my Sephiroth three times before I finally wore it. Firstly, because I wanted to debut it complete and secondary, I had back up outfits each time I delayed. it.

Its likely that my artbook Abel will be incomplete for Minamicon but I plan to wear it anyway as most of the main pieces are complete.

So it really dose depend on your own personal choice.

I, for one, would love to see your Raiden. I know you've worked quite hard on it.

I've no real back up outfit, I have put all my costuming eggs in the Raiden basket for minami. I could drag out a couple of costumes I have worn before, I know Dez will be pleased if I rewear Rikku!

I'd say as long as you're not missing any major sections, go for it. I know how much you've put into it.

Anything I can do to help / any parts missing I might have matches for in my random cupboard of wonder?

Oh, and I found the trainers we used for the Doctor costume that time. I'll bring down all the ones I've got and you can choose which is best for you. Oh, if you need them before the con to do anything to them I could maybe drop them up.

Vamps going quite well, managed to get loads done today (thankfully managed to take day off). Should get most of the rest done tomorrow following early trip to sewing shop, and possibly a model shop too...

I've got some make up - the clips I've seen on you tube show him as mostly grey so that's what I've got. Went for the face paint type ones you get from costume shops. May need advice on application though - anything I can do to stop it rubbing off on everything?

Wasn't planning on getting that homoerotic but if that's your idea of retaliation I'm quite tempted to ;)

Unless you've developed a way to bend time then there isn't really anything you can help me on this, but thanks for the offer :)
