Jinwoo didn’t try to sleep on the first few days. He avoided it, even. To him, waking up was something filled with hope. Something that was supposed to give you a pleasant feeling from the closure you had given yourself when you went to sleep the previous night. At that time, he didn’t believe that would be the case anymore.
But it was inevitable, and when it came, it took him off guard. He woke up in the morning feeling a slap to the face from the space beside him--a constant reminder.
She came one night. He thought, there it is. She’s going to tell me to let her go.
She didn’t, and instead just stood there with a smile that looked like it was going to break into a sweet laugh. When he opened his eyes, he was disappointed in himself. He should have known better, Seungwan would never push people away.
She slipped into his dreams again a few times after that night, giving him the same look, the same smile. That same woman he had loved dearly. And then, she came even more frequently, and each night he tried his best to stay with her as long as he could.
They say when you sleep, memories get into your dream. Some others say dreams are your surpressed desire, your wish. And maybe all of them were right, because in his sleep, Jinwoo met both his memories and his wishes.
In his sleep, she was alive.
He downed the handful of pills.
